If you want to play with the dictionary, email Wendy and she'll start it up.

The Dictionary program was written by Laura Menke and Wendy Miller during the summer of 1997. The two were working with mentor, Susan McRoy, at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee thanks to the CRA Distributed Mentor Project. The CRA Distributed Mentor Project is managed by the Computing Research Assocation (CRA) and funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

To see the documentation: Dictionary Documentation. Both the user and technical documentation are included. Check the table of contents for what you are looking for.

NOTE: POSSIBLE REASONS WHY IT MAY NOT BE WORKING

  1. Applet doesn't start up: The server is not running.
  2. Playing with applet does not produce a response: Lisp program is not running.

The words in a dictionary are stored in a file called "******.table" This page does not have a method in place to allow a user to view the entries.
